My name is Moon Kyung Kim, and I am a South Korean who moved to Canada 2011. I have been passionate about art and design for as long as I can remember. My formal university training in fine art and ceramics in Korea, and worked as an art teacher. My experience with the arts scene here in Canada, has defined the signature style for my pottery. My approach to pottery is Korean style, with Canadian inspiration.
Through this, I personally create all aspects of my ceramics, from crafting the pieces to making the ceramic glazes and paints. My ceramic designs fall into two categories: one inspired by traditional Korean patterns, showcasing artistic value, and the other influenced by modern designs, drawing inspiration from Canadian life, featuring motifs like mountains. Each design is adorned either by hand-painting or carving.
