JANICE LUTSENKO
JANICE LUTSENKO’S FLOWER ART
My art is a combination of pressed flowers, bark and watercolour
I have been in love with flowers since I was twelve and given my very first bouquet. That led to a lifetime quest of how to preserve and keep flowers. My favourite method of preservation is pressing them. Over the years as my art has developed so has the science of keeping flower colours alive. I also augment flower colour with watercolours. I grow my own flowers , my gardening skills had to grow along with my flower keeping skills. My pictures are largely made from the flowers in my summer garden which I grow in Airdrie, Alberta. I trained as a floral designer and I also have a liberal arts degree from Simon Fraser University in Burnaby, B.C. I now live in southern Alberta with my long suffering husband , Peter, who has been a crucial help in my business, everything from the matting and framing of pictures to the shipping is in his hands. I am very blessed to garden all summer and then build gardens in my studio with my summer bounty.
